color swatches (2015) for double bass quartet
My goal with Color Swatches was to write a bass quartet that uses many different “colors” of the bass. Each movement focuses on a specific color that I wanted to explore. The first movement uses natural harmonics of the bass, the second movement explores various percussive elements of the bass, the third movement is based largely on glissandi, and the fourth movement is based on bow techniques and the Fibonacci sequence.
